What is Woven Video?

The short answer

Woven Video is an AI video editor for Mac, made by Woven Labs. You edit your own footage on a multi-track timeline, by chat and by hand, and an AI agent can cut, caption, add effects, music and sound effects, or generate images, video and audio. It focuses on short-form video such as Reels, TikToks, Shorts, product demos and ads. It is a Mac app, not the textile term and not any other company that shares the name.

What Woven Video does

Edit your footage by chat. Describe the result and the agent cuts, orders and trims your clips on a real timeline with Picture, Text, Effects, Captions, Audio and SFX tracks. Drag, split or restyle anything yourself, or right-click an item and choose Reference in chat to point the agent at it.

Captions, effects, music and sound effects. Captions come from transcribing your speech, have five looks and are burned into the exported video. There are 12 effects, such as Push-in, Punch and Glitch, and 35 bundled sound effects. Music comes from your own files or from generation, since there is no music library.

Generate media by chat. Ask for an image, a video clip, music, a voiceover from text or a sound effect, and the result lands in your project. Generation uses Woven credits.

Study a reference or a brand. Paste a link to a video you like and the agent breaks down its hook, pacing, shots and sound, covering the first 90 seconds of longer videos. Give it a public website and it collects a logo, colors and font details to work in that brand.

Connect Claude Code or Codex. Claude Code and Codex, including ChatGPT's Work mode, can drive Woven through a local connector you set up once with a copied prompt. Woven still does the cutting and rendering.

What it is not and what it needs

Woven Video is a macOS app, so it helps to know the limits before you download it.

• ·Mac only. It needs macOS 15.0 or later. It is not a web app, and rendering happens on your Mac. Sign-in, chat, generation, transcription and downloads need an internet connection.
• ·An account, with a trial. You sign in with Google. Both plans start with a 3-day free trial that needs a card. After that it costs $299 a year or $39 a month, and either plan includes $10 of AI credits every month.
• ·Two ways to chat. Sign in with a paid ChatGPT plan (Plus, Pro, Business, Edu or Enterprise) to run the agent on that plan, or use Woven-hosted models on your credits. Captions, transcription and generation use Woven credits either way.
• ·Local project folders. A workspace is a folder on your Mac, new ones go in Movies/Woven, and a reel is a small file that refers to the media in the folder. Exports are MP4 files at 1080p or 1440p.
• ·No library, no posting. It has no stock footage or music library, and nothing that posts or schedules to social platforms. You export an MP4 and upload it yourself.
