LinkedIn video size and specs

Last updated 2026-10-20

LinkedIn Help lists these limits for video posts: files from 75 KB to 5 GB, 3 seconds to 15 minutes, aspect ratios from 1:2.4 to 2.4:1, and resolutions from 256 by 144 to 4096 by 2304. MP4 and MOV are both supported. LinkedIn video ads recommend the 4:5 shape, at 720 by 900 pixels.

LinkedIn video specs for posts

LinkedIn's Video sharing troubleshooting page lists these requirements. The page says it was last updated two years ago, so recheck it if a number looks off.

LinkedIn video dimensions for ads and Pages

Two other LinkedIn pages differ from the post spec, so check which one you are following. The article on Pages and Career Pages video gives a 10-minute maximum and says AVI, QuickTime and MOV are no longer supported. The video ads article gives 3 seconds to 30 minutes, 75 KB to 500 MB, MP4 only, H.264 or VP8, and a frame rate of less than 30 fps, as LinkedIn writes it.

For ad sizes, LinkedIn recommends the 4:5 vertical shape and also lists 16:9, 1:1 and 9:16.

LinkedIn video format and captions

MP4 is the safe format: it is on every LinkedIn list, and it is the only container accepted for ads.

Captions come two ways inside LinkedIn. For auto captions, switch on Add auto captions when you upload, and optionally Review captions before viewers can see them. LinkedIn lists English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Indonesian, Turkish, Arabic and Dutch. For closed captions, LinkedIn's desktop steps attach an SRT file under Edit, then Select Caption; that article was last updated five years ago. Captions on video ads must be an SRT file that holds only text.

Burned-in captions are a third route and need no setting. If yours are already in the picture, leave Add auto captions off to avoid doubled captions. Woven cannot export an SRT file, so for the SRT route you would make that file in another tool.

Picking a LinkedIn video size

LinkedIn's post spec recommends no single ratio. Its ad spec recommends 4:5, and that is a reasonable start for a feed post too: it takes more vertical room than 16:9 without going full-screen vertical. Use 16:9 when the video is a screen recording or comes from a landscape camera and you do not want to crop it.

Stay at 1080p for tall frames. A 1440p vertical video is 1440 by 2560, taller than the 2304 maximum if that limit applies to height. For frame rate, anything from 10 to 60 works for posts. For ads LinkedIn writes less than 30 fps, so choose 24 or 25.

Make a LinkedIn video in Woven

Woven exports an H.264 MP4 and saves it on your Mac for you to upload. Its average bitrate is 12 Mbps for a 1080 by 1350 frame and 24 Mbps for 1920 by 1080, both under LinkedIn's 30 Mbps ceiling for posts. An average does not guarantee anything about peaks.

Ask in chat

  • Make this a 4:5 video for LinkedIn with captions.
  • Set the frame rate to 25.
  • Export a 1080p file for a LinkedIn post.

Or do it by hand

  1. 1Choose a feed shape. Use the Format menu: Horizontal 1920x1080 for 16:9, or Custom… with 1080 by 1350 for 4:5.
  2. 2Match the ad frame rate. For a LinkedIn ad, set Frame rate to 24 or 25 on the Settings page, which appears when no clip is selected. For posts, 24 to 60 works, and 120 does not.
  3. 3Put captions in the picture. Use Add, then Generate captions, to burn them into the video. Leave Add auto captions off in LinkedIn.
  4. 4Export at 1080p. Open the Export menu and pick 1080p, which keeps tall frames under LinkedIn's 2304 limit. You will find the MP4 in the exports folder of your workspace.
