How to use Kling AI video and edit the result

Last updated 2026-10-20

To use Kling AI, open kling.ai, pick Text to Video or Image to Video, describe the action, camera move and any speech, set the aspect ratio and length, then generate, preview and download. Kling's page says Kling 3.0 runs up to 15 seconds with sound. Kling makes single clips, so you edit them together elsewhere.

Kling AI tutorial: make your first clip

Kling's own page for its video generator gives three steps. First, write a prompt and add any reference assets. Second, describe the action and the sound: the scene, the camera movement, and any dialogue or effects. Third, choose the aspect ratio and length, click Generate, preview the result and download it.

The apps Kling lists are Image to Video, Text to Video, Omni, Digital Human, Restyle and Text to Image. Text to Video needs no reference image. For Image to Video, Kling says to upload a photo, illustration or product image and describe how it should move. Kling also lists camera control, start and end frames to guide a transition, and up to 10 keyframes.

The same page says Kling 4.0's Omni Reference takes up to 15 images, videos and subjects combined, and that Kling 4.0 supports dialogue in 9 languages.

Kling 3.0, Kling 4.0 and the Woven versions

Kling's site now leads with Kling 4.0, which its video page says runs 3 to 30 seconds per generation with two-channel audio. Kling 3.0 runs up to 15 seconds, with native audio, lip-sync and multi-shot scenes. Woven lists Kling v3 Pro and Kling v3 Standard, not 4.0.

Kling's pages we opened do not explain what separates Pro from Standard. The practical way to choose is to run the same prompt through both and compare.

Kling 4.03 to 30 secondsTwo-channel stereo audio

Free tier, watermarks and rights

Kling's page says free generation options exist for eligible users, and that the credits and features you get depend on your account and current promotions. Free-tier exports generally include a watermark, and removing it is a membership benefit. Some models and higher resolutions need a membership or extra credits.

For commercial use, Kling says eligible outputs are permitted under its paid-service terms, and you should check your plan's terms and the rights to any reference material you upload. Those are Kling's rules for Kling's own site. If you generate through Woven, look at a clip before you post it, and read the pricing page for how credits work.

Kling AI video editing: what Kling covers

For a Kling AI video editor, Kling points to Canvas, where you generate images and videos and edit across several post-production rounds using node editing, and to its Restyle app. Those change what a clip looks like.

A finished video is different work: cutting several 15-second clips into one, trimming each to the beat, captions, music and an export sized for the feed. Kling's pages we opened do not describe a timeline for that.

  • Cut on the action. Generated clips often take a moment to get moving. Trim the start so each shot begins on the move.
  • Repeat the subject. To keep a character recognisable across shots, start each clip from the same photo with image-to-video.
  • Watch the sound. Each clip brings its own audio. Mute or lower it where you add music.

Use Kling inside Woven

Woven lists Kling v3 Pro and Kling v3 Standard, and both show text-to-video and image-to-video. If you need Omni reference or Kling's start and end frames, use Kling's own app and import the finished clip. In Woven you start in chat, and the clip is saved in your workspace's generated folder, with native audio when you ask for it. Generation uses Woven credits, and credit costs are on the pricing page.

Ask in chat

  • Generate a Kling v3 Standard clip from this product photo, slow turn, quiet room tone.
  • Run the same prompt through Kling v3 Pro and Kling v3 Standard so I can compare them.
  • Take the Kling clips in the generated folder, trim half a second off the start of each and put them in order.

Or do it by hand

  1. 1Ask in chat. Name Kling v3 Pro or Kling v3 Standard, say whether you start from text or a photo, and describe the shot and the sound.
  2. 2Compare once. Run the first prompt on both versions before you commit to a whole series.
  3. 3Import. Drag the result from the generated folder onto the timeline. Clips downloaded from Kling's own app come in the same way, or through Add, then Video.
  4. 4Join and trim. Line the clips up end to end, trim each edge to the first moving frame, and split with ⌘B. Removing a piece does not pull the rest along, so close the space yourself.
  5. 5Caption and export. Choose Add, then Generate captions for spoken lines, set Volume for each clip, and choose Export.
